The KOHLER® backup power system components include the generator, transfer switch, battery charger and distribution panel. The automatic transfer switch continually monitors the utility power source for an interruption. In the event of a power outage, the transfer switch starts the generator to restore electricity. When utility power resumes, the transfer switch reverses the process, shuts down the generator and resumes monitoring. Not only do KOHLER® gensets automatically restore power within seconds of a utility outage, they also do an automatic once-a-week check to make sure they’re ready for the next outage.

In the event of a utility power outage, the transfer switch – working in tandem with the generator – automatically starts the generator to restore power to the home or business, whether you’re there or not.
The transfer switch is the brain of your KOHLER® backup power system. It continuously monitors the utility power for an interruption. If utility power fails, the transfer switch automatically starts the power system, transfers the electrical loads and restores power to your home or business. When utility power resumes, the transfer switch reverses the process… again, automatically!
